Thornton Hall nomintated for National Spa of the Year
A family-run hotel in Wirral has been shortlisted for Cheshire Hotel of the Year in Cheshire Life Magazine’s prestigious Food and Wine Awards.
Thornton Hall Hotel and Spa was selected by hospitality experts from across the North West for its picturesque countryside setting, fine reputation as a wedding and conference venue, award-winning restaurant and luxurious spa facilities.
Just last month Thornton Hall was nominated for UK Destination Hotel/Spa of the Year in the British Beauty and Spa Awards 2008.
Geoff Dale, General Manager of the hotel, said he was delighted to be shortlisted for another top award.
“We are very proud to be considered for a Cheshire Life Food and Wine Award,” he said. “It’s fantastic to have our hard work recognised – here at Thornton Hall we’re passionate about giving our guests the perfect hotel experience. We want every second of their stay to be enjoyable.”
The hotel, based in the attractive village of Thornton Hough, will be going up against Rookery Hall in Worleston and Chester Grosvenor Hotel and Spa in Chester.
Cheshire Life Magazine’s coveted Food and Wine Awards recognise high standards of hospitality across the region.
The best hotels, brasseries, bars and inns were picked by a judging panel of magazine editors and culinary experts from the region.
These include Roger Borrell, editor of Lancashire Life and editor-in-chief of Archant’s county magazines in the North West, Patrick O’Neill, former editor of Cheshire Life who retired in May and his successor Louise Taylor who previously edited Archant Life’s food and drink magazine Pure Taste.
Also judging were food and drink writer Ray King, consultant caterer Rosemary Watts and Trevor Stone, Cheshire-based consultant who recently retired from his post as executive responsible for catering at all AstraZeneca’s UK sites.
The winner in each category will be announced in December.
Meanwhile, staff at Thornton Hall will be travelling down to London for the British Beauty and Spa Awards on September 7.
