Ramsay invited to dine out on the Wirral – 4th June 2008

A leading Wirral hotel has written to celebrity chef, Gordon Ramsay inviting him on an all expenses paid two day food tour of the Wirral.

Thornton Hall Hotel is responding to Ramsay’s recent outburst, lashing out at hotels and restaurants for not sourcing local home grown produce.

Thornton Hall’s head chef Hywel Griffith said he’d be delighted to show off the region’s abundant supply of high quality produce.

“Gordon Ramsay is absolutely right.” he said. “Local is best. British is best. Here at Thornton Hall we passionately believe in using quality suppliers. We’d like to show Gordon exactly what the region has to offer so he can use his considerable influence to champion our local suppliers across the UK.”

Thornton Hall Hotel sources a large amount of its vegetables from Vineyard Farm just outside Thornton Hough. Meanwhile its meat is sourced from Chester butcher Noel Baker using local meat's like Celtic Pride, Welsh Black and Cheshire beef. The hotels massive yearly supply of seafood comes from M&J Seafood.

On average Thornton Hall consumes approximately 100kg of Fish, 175kg meat, 250kg vegetables each week.

Thornton Hall Hotel  is the only hotel in the region to have been granted the much coveted AA Two Rosette status, and Thornton Hall believes this is due to the hotel’s continued selection of the highest quality produce.
