Thornton Hall raises bumper funds for charity – 21st April 2008

Thornton Hall Hotel and Spa’s Conference & Banqueting department has raised more than £8,000 for five leading Wirral charities.

Staff at Thornton Hall Hotel have been working to raise funds for Apache, BBC Merseyside Charitable Trust, Breakthrough Breast Cancer, Claire House and St. John’s Hospice.

The money was raised by organising a range of events from dinner dances to sponsored cycle rides.

Thornton Hall’s General Manager, Geoff Dale, said that the Hotel wanted to encourage staffs charitable work.

Geoff said:

“Our staff have always been extremely proactive in raising funds for charities across the region and we decided to create an official fund for their activity.  We are extremely proud of the amount we have raised to date”.

Thornton Hall regularly uses its executive hospitality facilities to raise money for local causes.  In 2007,
at the request of the Hotel’s banqueting team, the Hotel launched an official charitable fund.
Over the last 12 months, the fund has actively encouraged its staff to use the Hotel’s facilities to raise money for their preferred charities.

David Pike, Banqueting Manager at the Hotel said:

“The Banqueting Charity Fund is making a difference to a number of charities across the region.  Thornton Hall offers a tremendous facility to the Wirral, which our staff, guests and Healthclub members benefit from.  It is an honour that we are able to use the Hotel to give something back to other groups within the community”.
